About the Author
Hey! I’m Diane — homeschool mom, graphic artist, avid gardener, and proud chicken mom with a brain that never stops hatching new ideas thanks to ADHD. I’ve spent my life creating things: whether with a computer, camera, or both - or making delicious couture wedding cakes that looked way too pretty to eat. Creativity has always been my language, whether I’m creating, baking, planting, or dreaming up new ideas with my mutually creative kiddo.
When we began homeschooling, I realized history needed more than dates and names to keep my child engaged. Thankfully, our chickens were ready with stories — clucking out the beak‑to‑beak memories passed down through generations of our feathered friends. One day, they suggested I help them write everything down so young readers everywhere could enjoy learning from their tales.
That’s how The History Chickens came to life: a blend of my love of everything artistic, my curiosity about the past, and the flock’s centuries of barnyard wisdom. Together, we’re turning American history into something fun, memorable, and easy to understand.
Cluck on, my friends!

The Feathered Historians
Well, hey! I’m Henrietta, and I come from a long line of feathered historians who’ve spent centuries passing down America’s most important stories, from beak to beak and coop to coop. My "grands" taught me that our history is too egg-citing to be forgotten, so now it’s my turn to share our flock’s egg-venturous tales with you.
Every one of The History Chickens remembers something different, told from their own perch and personality. Whether it’s a tale of high-flying bravery or a quiet moment in the barnyard, I’m here to gather all those voices together. Think of me as the bridge between the coop and the history books—just with more ruffling of feathers and a lot more heart.
So, fluff your feathers and settle in! And, I promise to hen-splain plenty of small but important nuggets of info as we scratch through our birds-eye view of history. The flock and I are ready to serve up a story that’s anything but poultry—one cluck-tastic chapter at a time.
Cluck on, y'all!
